Complete in two volumes.
A limited edition work, of which two hundred and ten copies were printed, this copy is numbered one-hundred and twenty-nine, with seven etchings in duplicate.
The memoir of Count Carlo Gozzi, a noted Italian playwright, as well as being a champion of Commedia dellarte, an early form of professional theatre, which he was interested in saving.
Gozzi was known for his works Lamore Delle tre Melarance, Turandot, and La Donna Serpente.
Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, seven colour plates, and one monochrome plate.
Volume II illustrated with four colour plates, and five monochrome plates.
Collated, complete.
Translated by John Addington Symonds, an English poet, who was well known for his work on the Renaissance.
Illustrated by Adolphe Lalauze, Maurice Sand, and A. Manceau.
CONDITION
In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. A couple of light marks to the boards and spines. A couple of spots to the fore edges. A little fading to the front board of Volume II Internally, generally firmly bound, and the binding of Volume II a little strained. Pages are bright and clean. Tidemark to the first few pages of each volume, and to the plate facing page 216.
