Very unique vintage wood tray which appears to be a promotional item trying to attract visitors or VIPs to attend the 1939 - 1940 International Exposition in San Francisco (Worlds Fair). The text reads "California . . . Will wilecome you and yours at the Golden Gate International Exposition, 1939, to celebrate the completion of these might bridges. The tray features a print by @. Blondel (1936) showing gthe Bay Bridge and Treasure Island with ships in the Bay. The print is surrounded by a black and gold border, with additonal boarders made from real butterfly wings. The central area is covered by a clear plastic of some kind. The tray itself is made of wood with a wood inlay as shown. The piece is very heavy and measures 17 by 28 inches. It was not likely produced in significant quantity. I couldnt find another vente en gros example. A hangar on the back was attached so the piece can be hung. Very unusual.
