Antique 1700-1800 Stoneware Pitcher Jug Extra Large Salt-glazed 12"


  • For your consideration is a very early American pitcher
  • Salt glazed stonewarejug with one handle and a spout used in a household to store possibly water or milk
  • Nice dark brown color, thick walls, thick glaze, heavy
  • Incised pair of band for decoration
  • Hand thrown with extremely fine proportions
  • A majestic piece of early Americana
  • Circa late 18th/early 19th century, New England (found in Massachusetts)
  • All original

  • Measurements:Approx. 12 " tall x 9.75" spout to handle x 7.75" base diameter.
  • Weighs about 13lbs.

  • Condition:Very Good overall. Definitelyno major problems - chips, cracks, hairlines or restorations. Glaze accretion from the kiln close to the bottom rim. Please see photos below. All original.
